![]() ![]() Matt studied Music Education at Jacksonville State University and graduated from the Armed Forces School of Music in Little Creek, VA. ![]() In 2015, he founded Electrobrass Conference, which holds seminars geared toward the advancement of American brass music through technology. Performing over 200 shows a year as a Jupiter Artist across nine countries, he tours regularly with Eclectic Tuba and Opposite Box. Matt is a globally touring electro-tubist, Army Musician, pianist, arranger, and composer and leading proponent for the marriage of brass and electronics residing in Nashville, Tenn. Pitts also serves as a Senior Post Production Manager for the Moguls and Media and Forever Dog Podcast Network. ![]() He currently serves on the faculty of the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, specializing in instrumental music, music theory, and media studies. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony Foundation.Īs a music educator, Pitts has served on the faculties of Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas, and Pace Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. He has also served as a production consultant and talent for Tom Blair, Inc., Drum Corps International, and MTV. His concert compositions and arrangements have been commissioned and performed across the world. Pitts was the Brass Arranger for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps of Rockford, Illinois, after serving as a conductor here for three years (2005, 2007-2008). Pitts is active as a music designer, adjudicator, and instructor for award-winning high school band programs throughout the country. Prior to joining the Boston Symphony, Michael performed with a diverse array of professional orchestras, ensembles and performing artists including the Civic Orchestra of Chicago the Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, and Chicago symphonies the Axiom Brass the Pacifica Quartet “eighth blackbird” and Sufjan Stevens.įun Fact: Can balance anything under 40lbs on his chin. Michael attended Northwestern University where he received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Trumpet Performance studying with Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer. Along with playing for the symphony, he is also the Brass Arranger for the seven-time DCI World Champion Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps of Rosemont, Illinois, Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, and numerous award-winning high school marching programs. Michael Martin, founder of PlayWriteMusic, became the youngest member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops as Third/Utility trumpet in July 2010, at the age of 24.
